Karbala – Outdoor Screening
Poland / Bulgaria, 2015, 115 min., Directed by: Krzysztof Łukaszewicz
The film, based on a true story, depicts the deployment of Polish and Bulgarian soldiers in Iraq in 2004. When insurgents surround the city hall in Karbala, the unit is ordered to defend it at all costs – with supplies for only 24 hours. The film authentically portrays the reality of an asymmetrical conflict and the inner struggle of soldiers raised under the Warsaw Pact who must adapt to the conditions of modern warfare.
